Iron Gate Inn Gets New Management, February, 2012

In February 2012, the Iron Gate Inn got a new owner and a new Innkeeper.  Believe it or not the Iron Gate Inn is 40 years old this year (2012).  This makes the Iron Gate Inn, Winfield's longest-running B&B!  After being held in the Baden family for almost 100 years,  the property was converted to a B&B and first opened to the public in 1972.  The current Innkeeper (Melinda) is a native of Winfield and brings all of the knowledge and special touches to the Iron Gate that you would expect from of first-class, full-service B&B.
From volunteer auctions that benefit local organizations to hosting high school plays and from putting on murder mystery dinner events to conducting free open houses and  historic tours, the Iron Gate Inn is involved in the local Community in many ways.
Originally known as Baden Mansion, the house was built in 1885 at a cost of approximately $25,000  for the then wealthiest man in town, John Paul Baden.  Today the house still exudes the elegant Victorian charm of yesteryear with original gas/electric chandeliers, original parquet flooring on both the 1st and 2nd levels, original window sash locks throughout and the iconic original custom spring-loaded sliding shutters.
With the house's historic roots and ties to Southwestern College and its always friendly and welcoming staff, it's no wonder that the Iron Gate Inn is known as, "Winfield's Historic Ambassador".  This gracious property really is the perfect place to stay in Winfield whether on business (take advantage of super-fast high-speed wireless internet in all Guest rooms) or a fun-filled weekend getaway (selection of area brochures in the Inn).
Modern touches have been made to make the Iron Gate Inn to make it suitable for overnight B&B Guests like private bathrooms in all guest rooms, individual temperature controls in each Guest room, wonderful gourmet breakfasts for all every morning and many other services such as dinners, snacks, daily newspaper, free high-speed wi-fi and color flat-screen LED TVs w/ cable in all Guest Rooms.
Of course amenities are one thing, but when you add in the finest 5-star staff skilled in creating superb service and all this at a price that's less than many hotels in the area . . .  The Iron Gate Inn is your BEST VALUE in overnight lodging in the Winfield Area.  You can forget about paying outrageous hotel prices of $3 or $4 for a bottle of water!  At the Iron Gate Inn, bottled water is always complimentary.  One price covers it all.  Families welcome!
In addition to fabulous overnight rooms and excellent food and service, the Iron Gate Inn also offers package wedding deals!  With tall, elegant interior ceilings of almost 14 feet, tall 2-story corinthian pillars on the outside and all the lovely Victorian decorations, the Iron Gate Inn is the perfect venue for weddings from both very small to very large
Getaway for a day and give yourself a bit of 1st-class Victorian respite at the Iron Gate Inn!  The Inn is also a perfect place for visiting family during vacation / graduation season.  Needing a long-term stay?  Call the Iron Gate Inn and inquire about lower long-term stay rates.  And remember the AARP and AAA discounts are also offered.
Discover a bit of Winfield's exciting history at the Iron Gate Inn!  Indulge yourself in the area's BEST hospitality.  Enjoy the many amenities and choice location only a 1/2 mile from Downtown Winfield, Southwestern College and William Newton Memorial Hospital and find out why the Iron Gate Inn really is,
"Winfield's Historic Ambassador".

Just returned from a fantastic weekend at the Iron Gate Inn in Winfield, KS. Our innkeeper, Melinda, was very gracious and saw to our every need. The Murder Mystery was so much fun and the meals were delicious. The Inn was lovely and we enjoyed exploring the historic town of Winfield. Thanks for a great time. I will certainly recommend the Iron Gate Inn to my friends.

The Inn looks so cozy and quiet, and the pancakes are mouth-watering...I'll stay there next time I'm around!
